AfL Lens Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 2025
Overview
AfL Lens has been designed by teachers, for teachers — with privacy and pupil safety at its core.
We believe that assessment tools should be simple, secure, and respectful of every user’s privacy.
This Privacy Policy explains how AfL Lens handles information when used by pupils and teachers.
1. No Personal Data Collection
AfL Lens does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.
The app runs entirely on the user’s device and functions without requiring an internet connection.
No user accounts are created.
No personal details (such as names, email addresses, or photos) are collected.
No analytics, advertising, or tracking tools are used.
No data is shared with any third parties.
2. Local Device Usage
All activity within AfL Lens takes place locally on the device.
Any content created (e.g. text or drawings on the Mini Whiteboard) exists only temporarily and is not automatically saved or transmitted.
If a pupil chooses to take a screenshot, it is stored securely in their iPad’s Camera Roll within the Photos app.
AfL Lens has no access to those screenshots or to any other files on the device.
3. Network and Connectivity
AfL Lens works entirely offline and does not send or receive data over the internet.
When used alongside Apple Classroom, screen viewing is handled exclusively by Apple’s system — AfL Lens does not access, process, or share that information.
4. Data Storage and Retention
AfL Lens does not maintain any databases or cloud storage.
Once a user clears their whiteboard or closes the app, any unsaved content is permanently deleted from the device’s temporary memory.
5. Children’s Privacy
AfL Lens is suitable for use in schools with pupils under the age of 13.
Because the app does not collect or transmit any personal data, it complies with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) and UK GDPR requirements for children’s digital tools.
6. Third-Party Services
AfL Lens does not integrate with or rely on any third-party services, SDKs, or APIs that collect data.
The app is distributed solely through the Apple App Store and is governed by Apple’s own App Store privacy policies.
7. Data Security
Because AfL Lens does not process or store user data, there is no risk of data leakage, unauthorised access, or breaches.
All functionality is contained entirely within the app on each device.
8. Your Rights
Since AfL Lens does not collect or hold personal information, there is no personal data to access, amend, or delete.
If you have questions about data protection, please contact us using the details below.
